Centered on feeling better ~•

Back in the lab this week ...

While I was away one thing I noticed more and more is the state of mental health in our country the past year ... What’s being done to help all these people struggling? Big pharma ... but what else?

So little mention about exercise, food, environment, friendships etc - People are truly struggling... Of course I don’t have all the answers but here are a few things I have discovered thru my years of disordered eating / toxic friendships / and a career I didn’t enjoy:

⭐️ moving our body helps our brain (walks, dance, biking, yoga) do something everyday. 10 minutes is better than zero!

⭐️friends can add fun or frustration. IF they make life complicated... put you down or can’t be trusted, listen to your gut and let gooooo.... you will find new and toxic is never going to make you feel better

⭐️ stop staring at filtered newsfeeds. Real life looks different. Wrinkles, cellulite, blemishes — that’s real. Airbrushed makeup is not. 😣

⭐️Food is fuel. We don’t question what to fill our car with BUT we are confused about what to fill our bodies with. Analyze what Whole Foods you eat. Whole foods from the earth NOT processed are best. More organic, less processed. Don’t get crazy and don’t eliminate food groups. Use your brain and find some healthy new recipes. Nothing is bad or good. If you’re emotionally eating, find a therapist or coach to help sort feelings that trigger food splurging.

⭐️Careers can be a source of passion or a pain. If you find yourself living for the weekend figure out if it’s the place or the position. Make a list / then make adjustments. What else is possible? What might be a better option to pursue? A great salary only goes so far. A life you enjoy and a job that helps lift and inspire is better for our brain.

⭐️Drinks can drain us. I love a coffee, or green tea BUT empty sugar or alcohol just doesn’t have much space in my goals. A piece of dark chocolate over sugary lemonade is a no brainer for me. Again, it’s moderation not deprivation. Big difference in how you feel and calories involved with a “glass” of wine versus a “bottle”...

⭐️Believe in yourself, and if you can’t, then find people that do and can help!
